Your Ayurvedic Skincare Guide For Monsoon

Published on:

As refreshing as the downpours may be, it is sticky skin season again! The increased humidity and the sweltering heat from the past Summer months can be tough on the skin. From imbalanced doshas to excessive sebum production, the skin becomes a greasy canvas that invites dust, impurities and accumulates grime which further leads to clogged pores thereby causing acne and breakouts.

The Ayurvedic approach to skincare embraces all aspects of a person’s lifestyle and individual needs, and highlights that your skin health is also impacted by the seasons of the year. With the changing weather come changing beauty concerns which is why it is imperative to condition your skincare routine every season to holistically protect and nourish your skin.

Read on as we take you through some quick and easy DIY tips and expert selected herbs and rituals for that ideal Monsoon Skincare Regime.

Multani Mitti- your one and only anti- acne musketeer!

Fuller’s Earth or Multani Mitti has been synonymous with clear skin from back in the day! A herb nestled in our grandma’s go-to nuskas, it effectively alleviates acne and controls oil production.

  • Mix the Forest Essentials Facial Ubtan Multani Mitti with Rosewater and Mint juice to make a creamy paste. Refrigerate this mixture in an air-tight container and use a small amount on the face twice a day as a part of your AM & PM cleansing routine, for fresh and matte skin.
  • Alternatively, concoct a mixture of the Multani Mitti Ubtan along with a few drops of the pure Aloe Vera Juice as a mixer, to deeply yet gently exfoliate and purify the skin.
  • Make a thick paste using Multani Mitti, Sandalwood powder or Lodhra powder, ground Neem powder and apply it on affected areas just like a spot treatment cream. Let it dry completely and wash off with lukewarm water. Use this concoction daily for clearer, glowing skin.

Gels- the holy grail for Monsoon!

Lightweight-textured facial products always top the Monsoon must-have lists! Gel based moisturisers or sealers can be a perfect way to keep your skin hydrated and moisturized without making it too sticky during the rainy days, especially when you have oily skin. Choose natural ingredients infused blends like Aloe Vera Gel or Pure Rosewater Gel which impart cooling, soothing and purifying properties to the skin. These are enriched with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and help reduce redness, balance oil production by sealing in moisture and target other post-acne effects, holistically.

Facial Tonic Mists- a little spritz goes a long way!

Make sure you add an alcohol-free toner to your Monsoon skincare routine to keep it healthy and non-greasy. Our Facial Tonic Mists help maintain healthy pH levels, tighten enlarged pores and clean off any dirt residue after cleansing. While spraying is the more common way of using a facial toner or mist, we recommend the following DIY rituals that you can whip up at home using your toner and just some kitchen ingredients-

  • Mix Besan, Turmeric, Lemon, Rosewater to make a paste. Apply this pack on your face and wash off after 15-20 minutes. It will reduce inflammation of active acne and impart a natural glow to your face. Use this as a part of your weekly regime for best results.
  • Make a paste out of Besan and Bela water and apply it on your face and neck. Leave it on for about 5-7 minutes, once dry, scrub off in gentle, circular motions. This is an excellent pack to hydrate whilst removing dead skin.
  • While the Forest Essentials Pure Rosewater Facial Tonic Mist is suitable for all seasons, the Facial Tonic Mist Bela is most suitable for Monsoon. It replenishes the skin’s moisture and minimizes pores. A quick and easy way to level up your regular toning step is to refrigerate the toner and use it chilled for a cooling and refreshing effect!

In addition, we recommend adding the following Forest Essentials products to your daily skincare regime to keep acne at bay this Monsoon. This is the ultimate, transformational ritual for acne-prone and oily skin. It clarifies the skin, prevents dullness and dehydration- woes that often come with the rainy season.
