With our new Natural Makeup Collection, we are re-introducing these age-old rituals, with a contemporary slant for our discerning customers. We introduce a collection that is backed by years of research, that is not just makeup, but is an extension of skincare, to accentuate natural beauty.

How does the Forest Essentials Natural Makeup differ from organic or vegan makeup available in the market?

Our new Natural Makeup Collection is infused with precious skincare botanicals, fresh juices and extracts of Ayurvedic herbs that are certified organic. The Gulaab Khaas Kajals and Madhu Rasa Tinted Lip Serums are not vegan products as both use pure Cow’s Ghee, which is a key ingredient required to craft the Natural Makeup. The kajal’s two intrinsic ingredients include pure Cow’s Ghee and fresh Rose petals, which were traditionally used to soothe the eyes and relieve eye strain in the form of a Ghee Wash. The lip serums are enriched with a miraculous serum that contains more than 40 ingredients, including pure Ghee.

The Gulaab Khaas Kajals

Kajal is one of the oldest natural beauty products traditionally used by Indian women from Queens to Courtesans. These were enriched with powders of rare stones and freshwater pearl paste to heavily line the eyes. Others used the natural carbon soot and charcoal to craft their bespoke kohls for a “bewitching gaze that captured many hearts.” Forest Essentials introduces the Gulaab Khaas Kajal, a traditional Rose Petal formulation crafted using age-old Indian processes adding pure and precious ingredients.

How is the Gulaab Khaas Kajal made?

The traditional process of making the kajal is painstaking and delicate with hundreds of pure Cotton wicks being soaked in a paste of Rose Petals, Almonds, Saffron, Nutmeg, Cashew Nut, Pistachios and Cardamom, by hand. These are also known as ‘Tarpaka’ Herbs in Ayurveda which are known to satiate the senses.

These pre-saturated wicks are then placed in Diyas containing pure Cow’s ghee and Silver plates or Thalis are placed on top of the Diyas. The flames burn overnight and gradually a thick, rich black residue covers the Silver Plate – this natural soot forms the base of our natural kajal. This is then blended with organic Almond and Castor Oil and several other specially prescribed ingredients to make the natural kajal according to authentic Ayurvedic processes.

The Madhu Rasa Tinted Lip Serums

The Madhu Rasa Tinted Lip Serum is named after the fresh nectar of luscious fruit and full bodied fragrant flowers. ‘Madhu Rasa’ translates to ‘Sweet Nectar’ inspired by the ritual of freshening of the ‘Surmukha’ or mouth, one of our primary sense organs.

In Ayurveda, it is considered of utmost importance to ignite your senses first thing in the morning, with something sweet which could include a small piece of fruit, a piece of rock sugar or even fragrant leaves, before you commence the day.

How are the Madhu Rasa Tinted Lip Serums made?

We use hand-pressed oils of Virgin Coconut, Sweet Almond and Moringa along with natural extracts of Rose, Pomegranate, caramelized Cane Sugar scented with Cardamom and fresh Coconut Cream with Saffron, in each respective variant of these lip conditioning tints. These are infused in a rich serum containing softening butters of Shea and Cocoa, organic Beeswax and potent herb infusions in pure cows Ghee.

Together, these ingredients leave your lips with a satin finish that deeply condition your lips.
