5 Bath and Body Care Tips that everyone should follow in Morning

Published on:

It is no secret that external stressors such as pollution, prolonged sun exposure and changing weather conditions can wreak havoc on your skin. However, the right routine and a few key changes in your go-to habits and body care products can help keep the skin on both your face and body soft, hydrated and supple, thereby avoiding further damage.

When it comes to skincare, we usually talk about facial care and the body usually gets ignored. In this article, we are going to share some very effective body care tips that everyone should follow.

Tip-1 Abhyanga – A pre-bath complete body massage

Body care in Ayurveda starts with Abhyanga. Abhyanga, the Ayurvedic oil massage, is an integral part of the morning daily routine recommended by the healing system for overall health and wellbeing, known as Ayurveda.

Daily oil application through a loving massage is a powerful balancing treatment that stimulates the body’s energy channels and works as a therapeutic treatment for cultivating blissful awareness, which is the ultimate basis of radiant and everlasting beauty.

The performance of this ritual on a daily basis enables the skin to perform its diverse functions efficiently, whether it is allowing toxins to be released from the body or nourishment to be absorbed by the tissues.

Charak Samhita, the most ancient ayurvedic text says- “By performing an oil massage daily in the morning, a person is endowed with a pleasant touch, a trim body structure and becomes strong, charming and least affected by old age.”

Which oil should be used for a massage?

Sesame oil is the preferred choice as per this ancient science, and we also recommend the Forest Essentials Body Massage Oils that have a combination of oils like sesame, almond and apricot with ghee for maximum benefits.

As per Ayurveda, the application of body oils or “Tailums” offer a natural response to an unbalanced state of skin and help to combat all types of skincare concerns including dehydration, inflammation, dull and tired skin. Good body oils help release the accumulated stress and toxins from the body, leaving you feeling energized and rejuvenated. It is also a way to keep yourself in optimal health and balance, via the skin, which Ayurveda recognizes as a major organ and vehicle to reach our internal organs.

Tip-2 Ayurvedic Bath – Snana

The second tip to have a healthy and everlasting glow on your body is “Snana” or bathing. Ayurveda defines bathing as “Snana tarpanaparyantham kuryad ekena vasasa”, which says “Snana” is purifying and a therapeutic activity. It removes fatigue, sweat and dirt and provides endurance and glow.

Following Ayurvedic bathing rituals is considered to be auspicious, enhancing virility, longevity, strength, compactness and Ojas. Ayurveda suggests different herbal and natural ingredients to choose for bathing rituals given the different kinds of purifying and healing ingredients that are described in Ayurvedic texts.

Different Bathing Rituals in Ayurveda –

Purifying Bathing Ritual- Add 3 tablespoonful’s of ground mustard and 1 tablespoon of fenugreek powder to your bath. Additionally, adding a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice or white vinegar will help balance excess oil and get rid of blemishes. This is an upright bathing ritual for Kapha Prakriti.

Nourishing Milk and Honey BathAdd 1-2 tsp of Honey, 1-2 tbsp of Milk and 7-8 drops of Rose or Lavender essential oil in your bathing water. This healing and nourishing bath is highly beneficial for Vata prakriti individuals.

Soothing Fresh Herb & Flower BathAdd 1/2 cup of rose, marigold, and jasmine flower petals to your bathwater. This cooling, soothing and fragrant bath is best suited for Pitta prakriti.

Essential tip – Do not use water that is too hot. It might feel relaxing to drench your skin with hot water, but doing it regularly can damage your skin and make it more prone to dryness.

Tip-3 Cleansing Ritual – Prakshalan

5 5

Prakshalan is the cleansing ritual in Ayurveda, which recommends the use of gentle and mild cleansers that do not strip away the natural moisture content.

Chemically laden cleansers or soaps dry out the skin by stripping the skin’s natural moisturizing oils, leaving it dry and sensitive. These cleansers can change the natural ecology of your skin and make it dry; therefore omitting them or replacing them with natural options helps you retain some extra moisture.

We suggest the application of the Forest Essentials natural and sulphate-free shower washes, which incorporate the infusion of herb extracts, including Turmeric to purify and refresh the skin while replenishing its natural moisture. These are one of the shower gels, as they are infused with a natural cleansing agent, Reetha that deeply cleanses the skin for a luxurious experience.

The Forest Essentials sugar and silk soaps are also designed thoughtfully to infuse the skin with deep hydration and increase its elasticity. These soaps also provide radiance to the skin, along with a supple and smooth complexion.

Tip – 4 Don’t Forget the Hands and feet

The skin on your hands and feet has fewer oil glands as compared to the skin on any other body part. That is why moisture escapes from your hands and feet quickly, making them prone to cracks and itchiness. Always remember to apply a moisturizer after taking a shower and before stepping out.

The Ultra Nourishing Hand Cream in Mandarin & Neem gets instantly absorbed into the skin to protect, nourish and moisturize the hands. Oils of Almond, Apricot and Coconut are blended with organic Honey, Avocado and Shea Butters to create this effective hand cream. The texture creates a layer of protection on the hands that prevents moisture loss, even after constant washing.

The other option is the Forest Essentials Velvet Silk Body Cream Vitamin E, which deeply nourishes and softens the skin. It contains Sweet Almond Oil, Wheat Germ Oil and Vitamin E that repair the skin while keeping it soft and supple, all the while protecting the skin from environmental damage.

Tip – 5 – Layering your skincare

Rather than putting on a heavy and nourishing body lotion cream that only covers your skin, layering penetrates your skin. When you are layering, apply your treatments in progression moving from the lightest to the heaviest.

Never put a cream that is formulated with wax and paste, first.  The properties in the oil or serum cannot penetrate the wax and reach the skin. Always apply a cream as the last step to create a seal.

We suggest using a light bath and shower oil immediately on damp skin to lock in the moisture. After that, you can use an ultra-nourishing body lotion and finally, seal the moisture and hydration in the skin with Silk Body creams.
