Refreshing Summer D.I.Y. Rituals

Published on:

Come Summer and we get scurrying, looking for cooling and refreshing foods to eat. Our skin too, needs the kind of cooling our body does and requires a break from heavy makeup, to be able to breathe and heal naturally. To help you indulge in a revitalizing skincare ritual this summer, we have five Ayurvedic D.I.Y. rituals that can be whipped up in your kitchen and will tackle all your concerns. Make these a part of your skincare routine to prep your skin for the heat.

Remove Tan Naturally

To get rid of tan, you can rely on Tomato and Lemon juice. They are natural astringents that suit all skin types and brighten the skin. However, a mixture of these juices will need to be mixed with the relevant ingredients for each skin type for optimal effect:

Dry Skin

If your skin is dry and patchy, add some Sandalwood and Rose petal powder to these juices, for smoother skin. You can also switch the Tomato juice with Honey, for very dry skin.

Oily Skin

For acne prone skin, add some Forest Essentials Ubtan- Multani Mitti to the Tomato and Lemon juice mixture and cleanse your skin.

Mature Skin

For skin with fine lines, mix the juices with fresh curd and some Sandalwood powder. Leave the paste on for about ten minutes and rinse with cold water.

Sunburnt skin may take longer to heal since it impacts the living tissues of your skin, making it irritable and patchy. To cure these, mix 1 tablespoon Coconut powder and 1 tablespoon Sandalwood powder with some Tomato juice and apply on all affected areas and rinse with cold water.

Spritz Floral Waters

After a long day in the scorching heat of the sun, a quick pick-me-up with fresh Rose, Neroli and Lavender flower waters can be calming for sensitive skin. These are great for hydrating dry skin and help retain the moisture. Spray the Forest Essentials Facial Toner- Pure Rosewater to refresh the skin. Make your own wet wipes by spritzing these facial tonic mists on some tissues and using them as and when needed.

These flower waters also make for ideal body mists that help rejuvenate your senses and take care of the unwanted odor. Use the Forest Essentials Body Mist- Iced Pomegranate and Kerala Lime for a refreshing, long-lasting aroma.

Ice The Juices

When it comes to healing the skin, there’s nothing better than fresh juices like that of Aloe Vera, Coconut, Watermelon and Cucumber. These are enriched with essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids, all combining to contribute towards healthier skin.

Forest Essentials Aloe Vera Juice

For sunburnt or tanned skin, pour the Forest Essentials Aloe Vera Juice into an ice tray and use these ice cubes on your face, after a long day in the heat or add it as a step in your night time skincare routine. For everyday use, ice your face with Coconut or Cucumber water ice cubes, which will leave your face refreshed, glowing and will help minimize the appearance of pores.

Buttermilk To The Rescue

While drinking Buttermilk is excellent for your body in the summer, it also has wonderful benefits for your skin. The lactic acid in Buttermilk makes for a great exfoliator and is perfect to beat the dehydrating summer heat. Mix some Orange peel powder with Buttermilk to make a paste. Apply it on the face, and let it dry. Gently wipe it away with lukewarm water and apply regularly for a blemish-free, radiant complexion.

These D.I.Y. rituals can get you through the worst of the summer heat with youthful and glowing skin, while enhancing the sun-kissed look.
