The Earliest Cleanser Originated in Ancient India..

Indulge in the age-old tradition of the Ubtan, a concoction of fresh, natural and hand-pounded herbs.

During the Vedic Era, homemade concoctions were prepared using fresh, natural herbs and ingredients, as it was believed that the closer a food or a beauty treatment is to its natural state the better.. Forest Essentials has revisited one such Indian beauty treatment, the Ubtan, for nourishment and beautification of the skin. These natural cleansers are powerful yet gentle exfoliators that are known in Ayurveda to stimulate the natural glow of one’s complexion.

What Sets Our Ubtans Apart?

Our Ubtans are hand ground and blended with sun dried ingredients including fresh fruit, roots, flowers, lentils, bark and herbs, picked at their most potent stage, as specified in Ayurvedic scriptures. Each batch is kept very small to ensure its freshness and quality. These powdery cleansers gently exfoliate the dead skin cells without stripping away its natural moisture to leave skin soft and supple.

While these gentle cleansers can be used daily, these can also be customized to cater to your unique concerns at any given time. The Ubtans double up as masques that you can leave on the skin for 10-15 minutes or as exfoliators that can be massaged to scrub off the dead skin cells. For instance, for acne prone skin, Multani Mitti Ubtan can be used as a ‘Spot Treatment’ over acne.

Ubtans
How to Personalize Your Own Ubtan?

Ubtans can be personalized to effectively treat specific skin concerns and your unique skin type. For instance, to ensure that skin concerns like pigmentation, dullness and acne blemishes are addressed, combine the ‘Ubtan’ with the right and fresh ‘mixer’, which can be easily found in your very own kitchen! These mixers include tomato juice, aloe vera juice, rosewater, almond oil or milk, which when added to the Ubtan, can further enhance the potency of its ingredients as well as create a suitable consistency (masque, scrub or cleanser).

Prepare half a teaspoon (or as suitable) of the Ubtan and the ‘mixer’ in a bowl. Leave the concoction for a minute to absorb. Once it appears a little drier, re-add a few drops of the mixer to dampen it and then massage it on your face.
